Hull City are lining up a summer move for Reading goalkeeper Luke Southwood.

The Tigers have sent scouts to watch the highly-rated 21-year-old in action recently, according to the Daily Mail.

Southwood is currently on loan at National League side Eastleigh and is impressing for them. Football League sides such as MK Dons, Oxford United and Swindon Town are all also believed to be interested in him.

Hull’s current number one goalkeeper David Marshall is out of contract at the end of the season. He is a high earner at the club and is 33 years-old so is expected to depart the club. Therefore, Nigel Adkins will be in the hunt for a new ‘keeper and could raid his former side for Southwood.

George Long is likely to be the Tigers’ first choice next season with youngster Will Mannion and then potentially a new signing as back-up. Callum Burton, who has spent this season on loan at Chesterfield, is also out of contract so could also leave.

Southwood would fit the bill for Hull. He is young and has a lot of potential. He has risen through the youth ranks at the Madejski Stadium and represented the Royals at all youth levels.

The shot stopper has also played for England at U19 and U20 level and has also been called up to the U21’s in the past.
