Why ex-Swindon Town and AFC Wimbledon man will find club after Bradford City release

jake reeves is one of ten bradford city players who have been released.

The Bantams announced their retained list yesterday, with the likes of Joe Riley, Kelvin Mellor, Hope Akpan and Shay McCarton also leaving the club on free transfers.

Reeves, who is 26 years old, will have to weigh up his options as a free agent this summer but could be a man in-demand in the lower reaches of the Football League.

The midfielder joined Bradford in 2017 from AFC Wimbledon for £150,000 and was a regular in his first few months with the Yorkshire side. However, injury struck and he was out of action for 13 months.

Reeves fought back and regained his fitness to get back into the Bantams side last season having seen them get relegated from the sidelines to League Two.

It will be a blow for him to now be let go, especially after spending much of his time at Valley Parade out injured.

However, Reeves should be hopeful of finding a new club as sides in Leagues One/Two look to strengthen their squads over the coming months.

Prior to his move to Bradford, he played in the academy at Tottenham Hotspur before joining Brentford in 2009 as a youngster. He went onto make 46 appearances for the Bees’ first-team.

Reeves then went onto have spells at Swindon Town and Wimbledon before rocking up at Valley Parade. He will now have to patiently over his next move, but is a decent option for clubs needing midfielders this summer.
