Swindon Town broke a four-match winless streak as they beat Notts County thanks to two pieces of comedic defending.

The visitors conceded after 19 minutes in calamitous circumstances as Scott Robertson tried to play the ball back to his goalkeeper Sam Slocombe, but it hit the post and rebounded for Aaron Drinan to net his third goal in four games.

Sean McGurk then drifted out to the right and picked out Paul Glatzel in space with a whipped cross, but his header rattled the crossbar and bounced over.

Then, in the 73rd minute, Slocombe came out of his goal and attempted to thread a pass into midfield, but instead played it straight to Glatzel who could not believe his luck as he put the ball into the empty net.

Substitute Alassana Jatta scored a stoppage-time consolation goal for Notts from an acute angle, but it proved too little too late as County's slide down the table continued.

I've been a Notts supporter since the late 60's & despite all that has gone before, feel this is a new low with senseless decision-making. A fabulous start squandered with failure to learn lessons. It is abundantly clear where the problems lie. Absolute laughing stock. A better % possesion of no value if its in one's own half. Act now in management & defence otherwise, sadly that's it for me.

If ever there was a match for Swindon to end their winless streak, this was it. The good start to the season is saving the Pies. Changes needed for next season or it will be a relegation battle.

That was so much better from Swindon. Could clearly see how hard Gunning has worked with the squad on shape off the ball. Today they battled hard, stayed focused. NC had a massive amount of possession, and Swindon made it very hard for them to do anything with it. Got lucky, given two goals from awful NC mistakes, but a critical 3 points.

Oh, the pitch is in disgraceful shape, an embarrassment.

A terrible, dozy show I'd dispute the clown marks to Baldwin and Cameron (not a fan but thought he was okay today), and add Robertson and Nemane who was awful.
McGoldrick did virtually nothing although what he did he did well. Langstaff was dire.
Some dispute that the players have downed tools. But they have and they should be ashamed. Do they realise they're soiling their own shop window?

Respect to all the Notts fans who came down to watch the worst game of football ever! Thankfully your defence was comically a bit worse than ours. Hope we get a Saturday fixture away next season at yours.

It's hard to imagine a stiuation more toxic than at Notts. From the euphoria of last season, the brothers made a terrible appointment of a new coach who is clearly not up to the job. There are many players who are clearly not good enough (mostly defenders) and who don't respect the new coach or motivated by him. Attendances will plummet with the current attitude, style of play and results.

Manager and club captain are a disgrace. Both think they played well today.

Owners are invisible whilst this clown show carries on, possibly the worst footballing decision ever to appoint a part time manager?!

Will not be renewing season ticket if this clown is still in charge. Clueless.

Rose tinted glasses available at the County Ground and fantasy football outlets around Swindon! Tongue in cheek comment but neither team has enjoyed a good season this year, manager changes mid season never help. Hope for 24\25 season to be better for both sets of fans.

A much needed win and 3 points for us in SN1 this afternoon.

The goals Notts gave us were absolutely comical and more akin to what you'd expect to see on a Sunday morning league.

The way Notts continually played around the back which reminded me of how we used to play at Swindon Town. Notts were our best form of attack as they gave away so many bad balls in defensive situations.

It's exactly the same situation at Swindon Town as well. We had a good start to the season and have since fallen off the rails too. A great following of Notts fans today and I'm sorry to say that you're the worst team I've seen in SN1 this season.

The biggest worry for me was watching our lads go off at halftime with heads down and shoulders slumped,but Maynard and his crew never went over to them to gee the lads up or put an arm around them,they sat on their bench looking at eachother whilst avoiding any eye contact with our players!
Has he lost the changing room?
Has he thrown in the towel?
Does he know he's out of his depth?

Disgraceful performance today players have already booked summer holiday and Maynard trying to manage from ‘the book of dummies for managers’ - you need a goal and take off the player who has 24 assists so far this season for a player that doesn’t even know where the pitch is!!!

Likewise v Wimbledon losing 1/0 , then 2/0 and finally decides to bring on Jatta at 90 minutes.

The bloke is clueless and has no idea how to manage a game or manage players at this level.

A welcome 3 points for Town to offer a bit more security in the league. Sounds as though County have stepped off the form cliff of late, however they still managed to score a late goal against us. How many goals have we conceded this season past the 90 minute mark. Do the players not realise the game ends when the ref blows final whistle, not when 90 comes up on clock. Poor discipline in team!
